| Frog Water |
10:56 PM, Oct 02 2007 |
Should I not drink the water? Should I drink the water? Mr Victor, my landlord, tell me the well is 9 meters. Something like 27 feet. I figure it is pretty deep adn the environment here is very clean, way surpasing the standards of most places in India. So I think I use the water for tea and rice, cooking and washing- brushing my teeth too. I use bottled water for cold fresh water. The next day I look out my window and realize I can look right into the well. It is? cement cylinder container about 4ft diameter sunk down beside the house. I can see that floating happily on the surface are 3 frogs, the size that fit in your palm. Cute actually. I then?note that I am drinking frog water.- no problem, probably not the first time.

I am in Goa India now, it\'s in?the south, on the coast?and was a Portuguese colony until 1961. It is still very eupopean and there are mostly Christians here, specificly Catholic. Very interesting twist on religion and God in India.

| McLoed Ganj |
11:06 PM, Sep 22 2007 |
A different India once again- McLoed Ganj sets high up above Dharmasala. I basiclly is built-up along the road that encircles the top 1/3rd of a hill that justs up in a series of hills and valleys that ultimately become the Himalayan Mountains. A thousand feet up the tree line ends as do the roads leaving various pathways that take one up higher into the hamlets and Tibetan prayer-flag strung stupas that dot the hillside.
I took a tip from a guy I met to hike up a road that crosses the highest ridge behind McLoed Ganj 3 hours away by foot.

A new place and a new way of doing things. First off, sorry no pictures until we get to Goa. IN Rishikesh teh Indian government provides the sever space and the internet access is charged per megebyte. A photo is huge compared to a site visit or an email so most places don\'t alow the uploading of photos. It\'s to slow any way and it teh power could go out half way through so better to wait until we are in a bigger city with better connections.
Haridwar, Rishikesh adn Laxman Jhula are wonderful

India! Holy cow is right. This place is so vibrant and alive I can barely take it in. Jaipur is my favorite place in India so far. The people are warm and humorous and quick to take you in. When I arrived I said- find a good rickshaw driver and let him take you to all the best places. Almost immediately I met Mansur and 49 year old man who was smart, funny, helpful etc... all the best things. We really hit it off. He took me everywhere he went.

Everything changes. I have been in Haad Why Naam (the lovely beach on Koh Pah Ngan) for 3 weeks and it has been great but the time has come to move on to India. Charisse and I take the supply boat for Koh Samui tomorrow. I have met some wonderful people here and have learned that what is worth my attention never appears at first glance.

Being completely unscheduled is taking time to get used to. A home my days were very scheduled and my practice and teaching and resting were always anticipated. It was as freeing as it was monotonous. I liked it but weeks on end of it were overwhelming too.

The beach life of Thailand is very compelling. The sun rises and I get up, go dirrectly to a paltfrom overlooking the beach and do yoga. I take a shower, have tea and toast tehn read my book for 8 hours interspersing the day with a swim in the emerald green waters and chatting with fellow exiles.

We made it. It was a long trip but with no major hurdles outside the usual - 17 hours of flight, language and endless lines, planes, cabs, busses, boats, tuck tucks. It\'s quite amazing really how far we have come.
